What is Jim Beam Black?

Four extra years in charred oak

Jim Beam Black Extra Aged starts as the same Kentucky bourbon as White Label, but receives four extra years of aging in charred white oak barrels. During those years, the bourbon draws more color and flavor from the wood: more caramel, more vanilla, more oak and a spicy touch of cinnamon.

It is also bottled at a higher strength: 43% instead of 40%. This gives it more body and a longer finish. While White Label is primarily a mixer for cola and ginger ale, Black is made to drink neat or over ice, and to give classic bourbon cocktails more depth.

Jim Beam Black Extra Aged contains 43% alcohol, three percentage points more than White Label.
What is the difference between Jim Beam White and Black?

What is the best way to drink Jim Beam Black?
Neat or on the rocks, preferably with one large ice cube. It also comes into its own in stirred cocktails such as a Manhattan or Boulevardier.

You can, but you will lose much of what makes it special. For bourbon with cola or ginger ale, White Label is the logical choice.
