Jameson Black Barrel
Jameson for those who want more flavor than the green bottle. Triple distilled and matured in barrels that have been charred twice on the inside: richer, sweeter and still smooth. A whiskey to drink neat or in an Old Fashioned.

What makes Black Barrel black?
The name refers to the barrels. Jameson Black Barrel matures in barrels that have been charred on the inside not once, but twice. That thick layer of charcoal draws more sweetness from the oak: vanilla, caramel and toffee stand out more clearly than in regular Jameson. It also contains a special grain whiskey that is distilled only once a year, as well as a higher proportion of pot still whiskey.
The result is a whiskey that still has the smoothness of triple distillation, but tastes fuller and sweeter. The alcohol content is the same as the Original: 40%. While the green bottle is mainly mixed with ginger ale, Black Barrel is made to be enjoyed neat, with an ice cube or in a classic whiskey cocktail.
In brief
Caramel and nuts, without harshness
Vanilla and caramel
Sweet vanilla and caramel from the charred wood, with a nutty undertone. Warmer and deeper than the Original.
Sweet and nutty
Round and smooth, with toffee, nuts and a hint of cinnamon. Triple distillation keeps it smooth.
Warm and spicy
A warm finish where the cinnamon and oak linger for a while. Longer than with the green bottle.
Jameson Black Barrel flavor profile when tasted neat. With a large ice cube, it becomes sweeter and rounder.
How to get the most out of Black Barrel
This Jameson deserves a quiet moment. Taste it neat first, then decide whether you want ice or a cocktail.
Taste it neat
Pour 30 ml into a tasting glass and let it rest briefly. Smell the vanilla and caramel first, then take a small sip and look for cinnamon in the finish.
Tasting glasses →Over one large ice cube
50 ml Black Barrel over a large ice cube in a heavy tumbler. The ice melts slowly, softening the toffee and nuts without diluting the whiskey.
Tumblers →Black Barrel Old Fashioned
Stir 50 ml Black Barrel, 5 ml sugar syrup and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters with ice, pour into a tumbler over an ice cube and finish with an orange zest.

Boulevardier
