Bols Zeer Oude Genever
Bols' soft, rounded genever, with a rich taste of grains, light fruit tones, and juniper. Not a genever to knock back, but to savor slowly at room temperature or as a kopstoot with a weizen.

Old in style, not in age
Bols Zeer Oude Genever is an oude jenever: the classic style with more malt wine than jonge jenever. Oude refers to the recipe, not the number of years in a barrel. The extra malt wine gives this genever a soft character with rich grain flavors, light fruit tones, and juniper.
Where Bols Jonge Jenever is fresh and dry, the Zeer Oude is rounder and fuller. It is therefore delicious at room temperature or lightly chilled, and pairs well with a fruity witbier or weizen. For those who want to take it a step further with wood aging, there is Corenwyn from the same house.
In brief
Rich grain with a hint of fruit
Grain and spices
A warm aroma of grains with fresh spiciness and juniper. At room temperature, the nose is at its best.
Soft and rounded
Fuller than jonge jenever, with a rich grain note and light fruit tones that soften the alcohol.
Warm and spicy
A warm finish with juniper and grain, slightly longer than with jonge jenever. A great match for a second sip of beer.
Flavor profile of Bols Zeer Oude Genever neat at room temperature. Lightly chilled, it becomes fresher and slightly less malty.
Three ways to drink Zeer Oude Genever
Oude jenever is a sipping genever. Do not serve it straight from the freezer, as the grain and fruit flavors will disappear.
Neat at room temperature
Pour 3.5 cl into a tulip-shaped shot glass and let the genever rest for a moment. Smell first, then take small sips: this is how you taste the grain and fruity notes.
Genever glasses →Kopstoot with weizen
A small glass of Very Old Genever alongside a weizen or wheat beer. The genever's and beer's fruity notes enhance each other; a rounder kopstoot than with pilsner.
To the kopstoot →Genever Old Fashioned
50 ml Very Old Genever, 5 ml sugar syrup, and 2 dashes of bitters, stir with ice and strain over a large ice cube in a tumbler, with an orange zest.
To the recipe →Cocktails with old genever
Where a recipe calls for whiskey or genever, Very Old Genever provides a smooth, grain-rich base.

Amsterdam Sour
Genever, lemon, sugar, and egg white. With old genever, rounder and more grain-forward.
Old Fashioned
Sugar, bitters, and an orange zest. With Very Old Genever, a smooth Dutch version.
Kopstoot
Genever and beer side by side. Old genever is best enjoyed alongside a weizen.
Hot Toddy
Hot water, honey, and lemon. Made with old genever instead of whiskey, it is a Dutch winter warmer.More Bols flavors
