Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold
A single malt that you keep in the freezer. Winter's Gold is made in the winter months, when Scotland's highest distillery is at its coldest, and is intended to be served ice-cold. Honey-sweet, with heather, apple, pear and soft peat smoke.

Whisky from the coldest months
Dalwhinnie sits high in the Drumochter Pass and is Scotland's coldest distillery. Winter's Gold is made from whisky distilled in the winter months, when conditions there are at their harshest. There is no age statement on the bottle; while the 15 Years revolves around its years of maturation, this one revolves around the season.
The biggest difference lies in how you serve it. Drink the 15 Years at room temperature with a drop of water; Winter's Gold is intended to be poured straight from the freezer. The cold makes it thicker and creamier, and as the glass warms, its full sweetness is released. The alcohol content is the same as the 15 Years: 43%.
In brief
Honey, heather and soft peat smoke
Flowers and honey
Floral and honey-sweet, with apple, fresh pear and a subtle hint of peat smoke in the background.
Soft and gently warming
Ice-cold, syrupy and soft, with honeyed fruit. It warms gently without harshness and becomes sweeter as it warms up.
Smooth with soft spices
A smooth finish with soft fruit and mild spiciness. Sweeter and creamier than the 15 Years.
Flavour profile of Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold, ice-cold from the freezer. At room temperature, it is drier and less creamy.
From the freezer to the glass
Keep the bottle in the freezer; at 43% ABV, it will not freeze. Then there are three ways to pour it.
Ice-cold and neat
Pour 40 ml straight from the freezer into a tumbler that you have chilled briefly too. Take the first sip ice-cold, then let the glass warm in your hand: the honey comes through more and more.
Glass: tumbler →Winter highball
Pour 40 ml of Winter's Gold straight from the freezer into a tall glass filled with ice, then top with 120 ml of chilled soda water. Stir once and add a strip of lemon peel. Fresh, with honey and pear.
Highball recipe →Alongside the 15 Years
Pour an ice-cold Winter's Gold alongside a Dalwhinnie 15 at room temperature. The same distillery, two very different experiences: one creamy and sweet, the other open and lightly smoky.
