Captain Morgan Black Spiced
The dark, dry sibling of Spiced Gold. More spice, more alcohol, and less sweetness: Captain Morgan for those who want their long drink bold, with ginger beer instead of cola.

What makes Black Spiced different?
Captain Morgan Black Spiced starts with a blend of Caribbean rums, which is refined with clove, cinnamon, and cassia. The final step is aging in charred oak barrels. Together with the spices, this makes it darker and bolder than the familiar Spiced Gold.
The biggest difference lies in the strength and sweetness. Black Spiced is bottled at 40%, compared with 35% for Spiced Gold, and it is noticeably less sweet. While Spiced Gold revolves around vanilla and caramel, warm spices take center stage here. As a result, it easily stands up to a bold mixer like ginger beer and is also enjoyable over ice.
In brief
Clove up front, sweetness in the background
Warm spices
Clove and cinnamon stand out immediately, underpinned by the sweet, woody aroma of cassia.
Full-bodied and spicy
Bolder than Spiced Gold, with a fuller body. The spices dominate, while the sweetness remains restrained.
Dry and warm
A longer, drier finish in which the clove and charred wood linger.
Black Spiced flavor profile over ice. Ginger beer makes the spices even more intense, while cola adds more sweetness.
How to pour Black Spiced
Black Spiced is made for aromatic long drinks. Choose a mixer that provides contrast: ginger beer, cola with plenty of lime, or just ice.
Black Spiced & ginger beer
50 ml Black Spiced, 150 ml ginger beer and 15 ml lime juice in a copper mug filled with ice. The ginger enhances the clove, while the lime keeps it fresh.
Mule mugs →Over one large ice cube
40 ml Black Spiced over one large ice cube in a heavy tumbler. Let it sit for a minute: the meltwater opens up the cinnamon and oak.
Tumblers →Black cola with lime
50 ml Black Spiced with 150 ml cola and a generous lime wedge squeezed into the glass. Drier and bolder than regular Captain cola.
