Uiltje
Uiltje Brewing Company is a craft brewery from Haarlem, known for hoppy IPAs, exuberant labels and an owl in the logo. From the fruity Bird of Prey to a pineapple weizen and a vanilla wheat bock. Two IPAs are also available in a 0.2% alcohol version.
Hops, humor and an owl
Uiltje is a Dutch craft brewery from Haarlem, founded by Robbert Uyleman. The name and the owl in the logo are a playful nod to his surname. Uiltje mainly makes modern beer styles from the American craft beer scene, such as IPA and New England IPA, and is known for its striking labels and the funny, sometimes cheeky texts on the packaging.
Craft beer here means small batches, lots of hops and lots of variety. Uiltje regularly releases new beers, but a few have become staples. Bird of Prey is a fruity IPA with Citra, Chinook and Mosaic, while Juicy Lucy is a hazy, tropical NEIPA. There is also a Belgian-style blonde with American hops, a pineapple weizen and a dark wheat bock. Bird of Prey and Juicy Lucy are also available in a 0.2% alcohol version, for those who want the hops without the alcohol.
In brief
From Bird of Prey to Boogey Bockman
The IPAs are the heart of Uiltje. Bird of Prey is fresh and bitter, Juicy Lucy hazy and juicy. There are also a few beers for those who want something different.

Uiltje Bird of Prey
A fruity IPA, packed with Citra, Chinook and Mosaic, with refreshing citrus flavors. For the IPA fan.

Uiltje Juicy Lucy
A hazy New England IPA with a tropical kick. Juicy, fruity and less bitter than a classic IPA.

Uiltje Blond
Brewed in the Belgian style, but with American hops. Fruity and approachable.

Uiltje Piewee
A weizen with pineapple. The already fresh and fruity weizen becomes even fruitier, soft and creamy without becoming sticky.

Uiltje Boogey Bockman
A dark, complex wheat bock with Madagascar vanilla, caramelized sugar and notes of chocolate.

Uiltje Bird of Prey 0.2
Bird of Prey's low-alcohol companion. A refreshing IPA with little alcohol.

Uiltje Juicy Lucy 0.2
The low-alcohol version of Juicy Lucy, just as fruity as the regular one.

Uiltje Woohoo Beerbox
A gift pack with four beers: Bird of Prey, Juicy Lucy, Uiltje Wit and Uiltje Blond.

Tropical fruit and plenty of hops
Citrus & tropical
The IPAs smell of grapefruit, mango and passion fruit, from hop varieties such as Citra and Mosaic. Piewee smells of banana and pineapple, while Boogey smells of vanilla and caramel.
Juicy or crisp
Juicy Lucy is smooth, cloudy and juicy, almost like fruit juice. Bird of Prey is crisper and drier. The bock is full-bodied and rounded.
Bitter or smooth
Bird of Prey finishes with a clear hop bitterness. Juicy Lucy does not; it remains fruity. Boogey leaves lingering notes of chocolate and vanilla.
Flavor profile of Bird of Prey. Juicy Lucy scores lower on bitterness and higher on fruitiness, while Boogey Bockman scores higher on sweetness and strength.
How to pour Uiltje
Drink hoppy beers fresh and cold. The longer an IPA sits, the more its hop aroma fades.
Cold and fresh
The IPAs, the blonde and the weizen are best enjoyed at 4 to 7 degrees. Boogey Bockman can be served slightly warmer, around 8 to 10 degrees. Store hoppy beer chilled and drink it as fresh as possible: the hop aroma is the first thing to disappear.
More about IPA →Always in a glass
Pour the beer into a glass to smell the hops much better. With Juicy Lucy and Piewee, briefly swirl the package at the end so the sediment mixes in.
More about pouring beer →Taste the IPAs side by side
Put Bird of Prey and Juicy Lucy side by side: you can immediately taste the difference between a classic IPA and a NEIPA. With the 0,2 versions alongside them, you also know how far you can go without alcohol.
Beer tasting at home →Uiltje at the table
Hoppy beers pair well with bold, spicy flavors. A few combinations that work.
Burgers and spice
With burgers, spareribs, nachos and spicy curry. The hop bitterness balances richness and heat.
Asian and refreshing
With Thai and Vietnamese dishes, poké and ceviche. The tropical fruit pairs well with lime, coriander and chili.
Summer lunch
With a salad with chicken, grilled vegetables or fish. Also delicious with a fruity dessert.
Autumn and dessert
With stew, game or a piece of chocolate cake. The vanilla and caramel complement sweet and savory autumn dishes.
The right glass for Uiltje
A stemmed tulip or goblet from 38 to 40 cl. The rounded shape retains the hop aroma, and 33 cl of beer fits inside with a beautiful head. These are the glasses we recommend ourselves.
