Laphroaig Lore
A blend of whiskies aged from seven to twenty-one years, from oloroso sherry casks and quarter casks among others. Rich, smoky and spicy: bitter chocolate on the nose, a chili bite on the tongue and an almost eternal finish.

Young and old Laphroaig in one bottle
Laphroaig Lore is not a whisky of a single age, but a blend of Laphroaig whiskies aged from 7 to 21 years. They matured in five different types of casks, including oloroso sherry casks and the small quarter casks also used for Quarter Cask. The young whiskies bring fire and smoke, while the older ones bring depth and sweetness.
The result is described as exceptionally rich, smoky and spicy. Whereas the 10 Years revolves around iodine and seaweed, Lore offers bitter chocolate, vanilla and ash, followed by powerful peat smoke with a spicy bite. At 48%, it has room for a drop of water, which brings out notes of rich cream and green citrus fruit.
In brief
Chocolate, ash and a spicy bite
Bitter chocolate
Bitter chocolate, topped with sweet vanilla and a hint of ash. Darker and less salty than the 10 Years.
Peat with chili
Powerful peat smoke with a spicy chili bite, full and warm at 48%.
Almost eternal
A dry, lightly sweet finish that lingers almost endlessly, with smoke, chocolate and a final warm glow of chili.
Tasting profile of Laphroaig Lore neat. With a drop of water, cream and green citrus fruit come to the fore.
How to taste Laphroaig Lore
Lore is a whisky to discover at your leisure. Taste it neat first, then with water, and preferably with a second glass of Laphroaig beside it for comparison.
Pure, then a drop of water
30 ml in a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Taste it neat for the chocolate and chili bite, then add a few drops of water and look for cream and green citrus fruit.
Glass: tasting glass →Alongside the 10 Years
Pour 15 ml Lore and 15 ml Laphroaig 10 Years into two identical glasses. This lets you taste in one go what older whiskies and oloroso sherry casks add to the house character.
About the 10 Years →As a smoky rinse
Rinse a chilled glass with 5 ml Lore and discard the excess, then pour in a Sazerac or Old Fashioned. A few drops give the entire cocktail an aroma of chocolate and smoke.
Sazerac recipe →Cocktails where a little Lore is enough
Lore is too special to drown as a base. Use it as a rinse, float, or splash, so its smoke and chocolate lift the cocktail.

Sazerac
Rye, sugar, and Peychaud's bitters in a glass rinsed with Lore instead of absinthe.
Penicillin
Blended Scotch, lemon, honey, and ginger, with 10 ml Lore as a smoky float.
Boulevardier
Whisky, Campari, and sweet vermouth. A splash of Lore brings chocolate and smoke to the bitterness.
Godfather
Whisky with amaretto over ice. Lore and almond together taste like bitter chocolate with marzipan.More Laphroaig flavors
