Hennessy Paradis

Dozens of very old eaux-de-vie, each aged for at least 25 years and often much longer. Paradis is not a cognac to mix, but to taste mindfully, at room temperature and in a proper glass.

What is Hennessy Paradis?

Dozens of eaux-de-vie aged for at least 25 years

Hennessy Paradis is a blend of dozens of very old eaux-de-vie. Each has aged in oak for at least 25 years, and often many decades longer. By comparison, ten years is the minimum for an XO. You can taste that difference in the smoothness and in the way the flavor reveals itself layer by layer.

Where XO is powerful and woody, Paradis is more refined: dark fruit and plums, honeysuckle and a spicy note from the old oak, without the wood taking over. It's the bottle for a special moment, and also one that would be wasted in a cocktail.

How to drink it

A ritual for a special bottle

Paradis calls for calm. No ice, no water and no hurry: let the glass and time do the work.

Small pour, big glass

Pour no more than 25 ml into a tulip-shaped cognac glass. This gives the cognac room to breathe and keeps the floral notes in the glass.

Smelling in three steps

First smell from a distance from the glass, then at the rim, and finally deeper inside the glass. You smell flowers, fruit and wood in succession. Only then take a small sip.

After dinner

At the end of a dinner, after coffee, with a few plain chocolates or dried plums. The fruit on the table reflects the fruit in the glass.

Everything about Hennessy →
What percentage of alcohol is in Hennessy Paradis?
Hennessy Paradis contains 40% alcohol, just like Hennessy's other cognacs.
How old is Hennessy Paradis?
There is no age statement on the label, but every eau-de-vie in the blend has been aged for at least 25 years, and often many decades longer.
What is the difference between Hennessy XO and Paradis?
XO is powerful, woody and rich in cocoa and spices. Paradis consists of much older eaux-de-vie and is softer, fruitier and more floral, with plums and honeysuckle and an even longer finish.
How do you drink Hennessy Paradis?
Neat, at room temperature, in a tulip-shaped cognac glass. No ice and no water: let it rest in the glass for a few minutes and take small sips.
Can you mix Hennessy Paradis?
You can, but it does the cognac a disservice. For cocktails, Hennessy VS or VSOP is a better choice; save Paradis for drinking neat.
