Glenfiddich Project XX
Twenty whisky connoisseurs each chose a cask; those twenty casks, from port casks to ex-bourbon casks, have become one whisky. Rich and fruity, at 47% and without chill filtration.

Twenty selectors, one whisky
Project XX is one of the experiments in Glenfiddich's Experimental Series. Malt Master Brian Kinsman asked twenty whisky connoisseurs to each choose one cask from the warehouse. This resulted in a varied collection, from port casks to American oak ex-bourbon casks. Kinsman brought those twenty casks together into one whisky.
The result is bottled at 47% and is not chill-filtered. This makes it more powerful and fuller in texture than the rest of the range, which is bottled at 40 or 43%. The taste is rich and fruity, with sweetness and spices from the casks. It is a whisky to taste mindfully, preferably with a few drops of water on the side to discover what those twenty casks do.
In brief
Rich, fruity and powerful
Rich and sweet
A rich, sweet nose with ripe fruit. The higher strength lifts the aromas; let it sit for a moment before smelling it.
Full and spicy
Fuller and creamier than the 40% bottles, with sweetness from the casks and a distinct layer of spices.
Warm and long
A long, warm finish in which the spices linger. You can feel the 47%, but without any harshness.
Tasting profile of Glenfiddich Project XX neat. A few drops of water make it softer and fruitier.
Tasting mindfully
Project XX was made to be talked about. Drink it neat, experiment with water, and ideally pour it for a few friends at once.
Neat, then with water
Pour 3 cl into a tulip-shaped glass and taste it neat first. Then add a few drops of water with a pipette or teaspoon. At 47%, water noticeably opens up the whisky: sweeter, softer and fruitier.
Glass: tasting glass →A tasting with friends
Set out four glasses and have everyone guess which casks they are tasting: sherry, port or bourbon. This recreates what the twenty whisky experts did, but at the kitchen table.
Tasting glasses →In a strong Old Fashioned
Stir 45 ml Project XX, 5 ml sugar syrup and 2 dashes of bitters briefly with ice, then pour over one large ice cube. The high strength keeps the flavor intact as the ice melts.
Old Fashioned recipe →Cocktails that can handle a strong malt
A 47% whisky remains distinctive even after stirring and dilution. Choose stirred recipes with few ingredients.

Sazerac
Whisky, sugar and bitters in a glass rinsed with absinthe. Spicy and strong.
Manhattan
Whisky, sweet vermouth and bitters. The port casks complement the vermouth.
Old Fashioned
Whisky, sugar and bitters. At 47%, it holds up on ice for a long time.
Boulevardier
Whisky, sweet vermouth and Campari. Enough strength to stand up to the bitterness.More Glenfiddich glasses
