What is Rémy Martin Tercet?

Three experts, one blend

Tercet refers to a trio. The cognac was created through the collaboration of Rémy Martin's master distiller, winemaker and cellar master, who each brought their own expertise to the blend, with Baptiste Loiseau's original vision as the starting point. The result is a Cognac Fine Champagne that is fresh, bold and intensely fruity, with a surprisingly long finish.

Two things make it different from the rest of the house. It is bottled at 42% instead of 40%, and according to the brand, made with a special yeast. While the 1738 and the XO are about maturity and oak, Tercet is about fresh fruit and spices. That makes it the Rémy Martin cognac that stands up best to ice and citrus.

Fresh fruit with a spicy edge

Nose

Fresh fruit

An intensely fruity nose, fresher than you might expect from cognac, with a light touch of spices.

Palate

Lively and soft

Bold and fresh, with juicy fruit and spices. The 42% ABV gives it power, while the texture remains soft.

Finish

Surprisingly long

A long finish in which the fruit and spice alternate. That very length makes it shine in cocktails.

How to drink it

Three ways to serve Tercet

Tercet is the cognac for those who want to mix cognac. Ice, citrus and bubbles aren't a waste here - they're exactly the point.

On the rocks

50 ml Tercet over a large ice cube in a tumbler, with a thin strip of lemon zest. The cold makes the fruit even fresher and softens the 42% ABV.

Tumblers →

Sidecar

50 ml Tercet, 25 ml Cointreau and 25 ml lemon juice, shaken hard with ice and strained into a chilled coupe. Tercet's fruitiness makes it livelier than with a VSOP.

Cognac highball

40 ml Tercet in a highball glass filled with ice, topped up with 120 ml chilled soda or ginger ale. Stir once and add an orange wedge.

Everything about Rémy Martin →
What percentage of alcohol does Rémy Martin Tercet contain?
Rémy Martin Tercet contains 42% alcohol. This makes it the strongest bottle from the house; the VSOP, 1738, XO and Louis XIII are all 40%.
What does Tercet mean?
Tercet means a trio. The name refers to the three experts who created the cognac together: Rémy Martin's master distiller, cellar master and wine master.
What is the difference between Tercet and the VSOP?
Both are Cognac Fine Champagne, but Tercet is stronger (42% versus 40%), fresher and distinctly fruitier, with a longer finish. The VSOP is rounder, with vanilla and apricot.
Can you use Tercet in cocktails?
Yes, that is exactly what it is intended for. Its fruitiness and 42% ABV stand up well to citrus and bubbles. Try a Sidecar, a French 75 or a simple highball with soda.
Do you drink Tercet with ice?
It certainly can. Served over a large ice cube in a tumbler, it becomes fresher and the fruit comes through even more. Enjoyed neat from a cognac glass, you mainly taste the spices and the long finish.
